Every destination has its own rules for pets entering the country. Requirements can also vary depending on your pet, country of origin and travel route. Paws en Route helps identify and coordinate the requirements that apply to your pet's journey.
Health Certificates & Veterinary Coordination
International health certificates must be completed accurately and within the required travel timeline. We can help prepare the applicable paperwork and provide it to your veterinarian to complete the required veterinary sections. As part of a documentation process managed by Paws en Route, we review the completed paperwork and help coordinate the next steps. If your regular veterinarian does not have experience with international pet travel, we may also be able to recommend a veterinarian familiar with the documentation process.
Import Permits & Country-Specific Requirements
Depending on your destination, your pet may require an import permit, specific vaccinations, blood tests, treatments or other travel documentation. We help identify the requirements for your destination and coordinate the steps and timing needed before travel. Where applicable, we can also assist with import permit requirements and involvement from destination authorities. Our team helps ensure each requirement is addressed in the right sequence and within the applicable travel timelines.
Government Endorsements & Authority Coordination
Some international pet travel documents must be reviewed or endorsed by a government veterinary authority, such as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), before your pet can travel. We help coordinate the endorsement process, prepare the applicable paperwork for submission and guide you through the required next steps. Where destination authorities are involved, we can also help navigate country-specific processes. If an issue is identified in documentation we have helped manage, we work with you to understand the problem and determine the appropriate steps to help resolve it.
